House Community Choir

Do you love to sing and are you over 18 years of age? Are you looking for a place to sing quality music alongside other talented adults? These are the only prerequisites for joining the House Community Choir! House Theatre offers a performing ensemble for adult vocalists of the Lowcountry.

Choir members will have the opportunity to rehearse beautiful, challenging music and perform in various venues around the Lowcountry. The repertoire will be varied, with an exciting mix of sacred, classical, gospel, and modern music. Singers will also be trained, not just how to perform challenging choral repertoire, but how to keep their voices healthy and cultivate lifelong personal musicianship.

General Information

House is a ministry-focused non-profit organization which offers performing arts education opportunities to homeschool students, as well as adult community members. The House Choral Program is not just an isolated choir in a church or an educational co-op, but rather one centralized program where singers can begin young and move up through various ensembles as their age and increased ability allows them to. House Community Choir is an extension of the kind of choral training we give to the students in our K-12 Choral Program, as it allows its members to receive similar training in vocal health, musicianship, and other technical skills. However, House Community Choir is a unique ensemble, because its performance opportunities are much broader, its repertoire is more challenging, and its age diversity is much greater.

The goal of all of the choirs run through House Theatre is to provide a quality musical experience where the Lord is honored, and where the music, rehearsals, and performances are clean, wholesome, excellent, and worshipful. It is a place where singers can learn quality repertoire and advanced techniques; improve their God-given abilities; and bond with other vocalists over a shared love for music. We don’t just prepare for a performance when we rehearse; we also teach foundational musical and vocal skills and, most importantly, share the Lord’s love with all those in our program and our audiences.

Location and Time

Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings fro7:00 to 8:00 in the chapel of Northwood Baptist Church (2200 Greenridge Road, North Charleston SC 29406). Rehearsals will begin on January 9th, when we will begin preparing music for our concert in the spring.

Fees

The cost to enroll in this ensemble is $25 per session. Each session lasts for about four to five months and includes at least one performance opportunity. If you prefer not to pay the $25 session fee, you may be willing to support House Theatre through gifting, sponsorship, or advertising.

We are thrilled to offer this opportunity to our Lowcountry community! Let’s build a lifelong love of music together!
